6ft 6 Bodybuilder with An Inspirational Story
Matty Campbell had an interest in sports from a young age, starting off as a sprinter and getting to County level.
As a teenager he got into football, reaching Academy Level. He had plans to go Pro but he was involved in a life changing car crash where he had to learn to walk again. It was his rehabilitation that led him to finding the gym.
Despite having never previously been a gym-goer, he found that he had a natural ability and he started gaining muscle at a rapid rate. He fell in love with it and subsequently started bodybuilding. He’s competed in bodybuilding shows in a professional federation (IFBB) and is known among peers as “The Mountain.”
Matty is a rare find – standing at a huge 6ft 6 and able to deadlift over 300kg, making his power and strength almost impossible to match!
Matty stars in BBC One’s Gladiators as the formidable ‘Bionic’, other appearances on television, include presenting a feature for The One Show, as well as participating in Saturday Mash-Up, The Weakest Link, Children in Need, and Comic Relief. He is also involved in various high-profile events, including the Great North Run, and Truck Fest.
