Lystus Ebosele / Cyclone

World Champion Powerlifter

In 2024, Lystus Ebosele made a whirlwind debut on the second series of BBC1s Gladiators as the electrifying Cyclone.

Lystus has always had a passion for sports, excelling in athletics from a young age with a focus on sprinting, shot put, and discus. Her impressive achievements include winning national championships in throwing and representing her country at the Celtic Games for shot put and discus.

Awarded a scholarship, Lystus was introduced to powerlifting during her university years and quickly began competing in this dynamic sport. To enhance her functionality and strength, she also developed skills in calisthenics, a form of bodyweight training that builds strength and endurance.

Transitioning to full-time competition in powerlifting, Lystus achieved remarkable success in 2023, winning the Junior World Championships for athletes under 23. She also set a new junior world record total in her weight class, which had stood for eight years, with an impressive total of 617.5 kg. Her record-breaking lifts included a squat of 245 kg, a bench press of 145 kg, and a deadlift of 227.5 kg.

Lystus prides herself on being a versatile athlete, combining elite powerlifting with speed and agility—qualities that are rarely found together at such a high level.

With a growing online presence, Lystus engages over 150,000 followers who are inspired by her powerlifting and fitness content.”
